CEOE Physical Science Test
The CEOE Physical Science Test reviews a number of subjects, including scientific inquiry in general, motion and energy, and matter. More particularly, the test taker should endeavor to understand the following material.
- Scientific inquiry - connections between mathematics, science, and technology; historical and contemporary context of science; applications to daily life; scientific process; principles of measurement; equipment, materials, and chemicals for safe investigation; natural resources; effects of human activity
- Motion and energy - motion in one and two dimensions; forces; application of laws of motion; energy, work, power; electrical current; charge; capacitance; circuitry; magnetic field; electromagnetic induction; harmonic motion; electromagnetic and sound waves; wave motion
Matter - models of atomic structure, properties of matter, bonds, mole concept, chemical equations, thermodynamics, kinetic theory, chemical reactions, acid, base chemistry
The test incorporates a free-response question that is worth 15 percent of the total grade. The rest is made up of multiple-choice questions.
