The state of Oklahoma offers CEOE certification in a number of areas. Initial license/ certification; Additional certification areas/ endorsements; Alternative certification; Early Childhood/ CDA certification and Paraprofessional Title 1 credentialing are all available.
Candidates seeking initial licensing/ certification as well as those who want alternative certification must successfully pass three tests. The Oklahoma Subject Area test(s) in their chosen fields, The Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination, and the Oklahoma General Education test are required.
Educators seeking additional certification or endorsements need only successfully complete the Oklahoma Subject Area tests in the fields in which they want certification.
Candidates for an Early Childhood/ CDA certificate must take and pass the Oklahoma General Education test, together with the Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination PK - 8, as well as the Early Childhood Education Oklahoma Subject Area test. Candidates for Elementary/ Middle Level teaching must also pass the Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination PK - 8. Secondary teachers seeking CEOE certification must take and pass the Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination 6-12. Those interested in certification in PK - 12 Art, Foreign Language, Music, Special Education, or Physical Education/Health/Safety must completed the Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination PK - 8 OR 6 - 12.
Candidates for a Paraprofessional Title 1 credential are required to demonstrate competency by passing the Oklahoma General Education test.
