CEOE Art Test
The CEOE Art Test requires a bird's-eye view of art across time, cultures, disciplines, and technical knowledge. To prepare:
- Know the techniques, materials, and tools for drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, nontraditional art forms, crafts, and folk arts.
- Know the use of line, color, value, texture, shape, form, and space.
- Comprehend art as communication, as well as the principles of design.
- Comprehend art across time, including Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods, and nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
- Be familiar with art across geographical boundaries, including the Americas, Asia, Africa, Oceanic, and Islamic cultures.
- Be able to analyze the relationship between art and society, human development, and other disciplines and art forms.
- Comprehend common themes.
- Understand theories of art - functions, purposes, and philosophies.
The CEOE Art Test is primarily multiple-choice (85 percent) with a free-response question (15 percent).
