CEOE Advanced Mathematics Test

The CEOE Advanced Mathematics Test is divided into the following five areas, each requiring a variety of knowledge and skills:

  • Number sense and problem solving - mathematical problem solving and reasoning, connections between math and other disciplines, mathematical proofs, mathematical symbols, number theory
  • Algebraic functions and relations - algebra and algebraic relations, linear algebra, polynomials, rational functions, radicals, piecewise, absolute value, exponential and logarithmic functions
  • Geometry - measurement (formulas, conversions), Euclidean geometry (2D and 3D, coordinate geometry, vector geometry, and transformational geometry)
  • Trigonometry and calculus - trigonometric functions, differential calculus, and integrals
  • Statistics, probability, and discrete math - probability (conditional, independent, and mutually exclusive events, graphs of probabilities, distributions such as binomial and normal), statistics (random sampling techniques, graphs, measures of dispersion and central tendency), discrete math (counting strategies, recurrence, sequences, series)

The CEOE Advanced Mathematics Test has 80 multiple-choice questions (85 percent of the grade) and a free-response section (15 percent of the grade).
